What is fascia release?
Fascia release is a therapeutic technique that targets the fascia, the fibrous, connective tissue that supports your musculoskeletal system. The goal of this hands-on therapy is to relieve pain, release tension, and improve fascia tissue mobility.
Pinnacle Health Chiropractic offers fascia release therapy to people looking for drug-free relief from persistent pain throughout their bodies.
Dr. Ablett uses fascia release therapy to manage pain and other symptoms of fascia-related conditions. He also provides comprehensive chiropractic care and rehabilitative exercises to help you live a healthier, more active life.
When should I consider fascia release therapy?
You could be a candidate for fascia release therapy available at Pinnacle Health Chiropractic if you suffer from pain or limited mobility because of:
- Bursitis
- Headaches
- Fibromyalgia
- Osteoarthritis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Herniated discs
- Lower back pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Overuse or repetitive stress injuries
Facia release techniques also treat functional problems caused by scar tissue, which can form after trauma or surgery.
Dr. Ablett completes a medical exam to determine if fascia release therapy would work for you. He might also order X-rays or other diagnostic imaging tests to identify the source of pain and rule out underlying medical problems.
What can I expect during fascia release therapy?
During initial fascia release treatment at Pinnacle Health Chiropractic, you’ll lie comfortably on a table in a relaxed position.
Dr. Ablett will use his hands to locate tight fascia areas called knots or trigger points. He’ll apply constant but gentle pressure to the area to help release the knot and lengthen the fascia tissue. Once the tissue releases, he’ll move on to another area of the body and repeat the process.
You’ll probably feel some discomfort while Dr. Ablett works to release the tissue, and your body could feel sore right after your session. However, the treatment areas will feel loose and less painful, increasing your range of motion.
Depending on the condition being treated, you might need a series of fascia release sessions to address all areas of tightness. Dr. Ablett can also recommend exercises you can do at home to stretch the fascia and prevent new knots from forming.
